Do I interview gym daycare?

I want to start going to the gym and the one I plan to go to has a daycare center. Is there some sort of protocol when taking your child as far as interviewing them or providing them with certain important information? I'm not sure if I should just go and leave her with emergency information or stay with her for the first few times? What did you do with your little one? Also my daughter is 16 months if she cries is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? I can't work out at home with her around and I'm really bad about going early morning or late at night plus I'd like for her to get out for a bit too. Advice needed!
