Has any one tried to be in a relationship with a hoarder ?

Yea they are Capable of love. My mom was a hoarder. There was always at least a foot of stuff piled throughout the house all over the floor. I kept my room clean. She just couldn't stop shopping. And never cleaned. I think it is something that can be helped it just takes time. Sometimes years. So be prepared to deal with the mess or leave. That's really all you can do after all it is his house. Hope this helped.
