Is 15 too young to start birth control?

I am 15 years old and sexually active with my boyfriend of 10 months. We have been having sex pretty constantly for about 5-6 months. This question isnt about is it wrong that I'm having sex because we love eachother, i trust him, and we are save. My question is if it is okay to start birth control at 15. Are there any bad effects besides the side effects? Is there any other form beside the pill that is easy to get and less harse but just as effective? I already have the birth control but havent taken it it yet, it is Lutera brand. I also have Plan B for emergencies.
