My son is 3.5 and still yet to be tested but started seeing the signs after he gave me the heart attack of a lifetime. He was drawn to fans, obsessed with colors, letters and numbers, lining up cars and disinterested in most his other toys. The scary signs were his absolute fearlessness (with exceptions to noises) and always drawn to water, and self abusive when upset. I have a cousin who was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome (in the autism spectrum) and was able to see the similarities as well. All in all it never hurts to get tested (in my case cause he's high functioning) be persistent and make your concerns heard.

Please, is there any way I can save my cat?

He's such a strong boy! He's been through so much and we have to put him down in atleast a week. He has asthma, hiv, and heart disease. I took him into the emergency room and they said it's probably worse. They said he probably has a bacterial infection or something they can't pick up. They said it would be torture to keep him alive any longer because his lungs will get too constricted. I've been giving him medicine every day and he seemed worse before, but today he seems fine. It seems a bit hard for him to breathe but he's active, eating, playing, responding to my touches, drinking, gets excited.. Before he developed all of this the vets always said he's the healthiest 12 year old cat they'd ever seen. I don't understand why this is happening to him. My world feels like it will be nothing without him. I love him so much and I don't want him to go. He's my best friend and my child. My dad suggested getting another cat but i'll never want another animal again. I love him. Is there any procedure or medicine I can give? The doctors said I have the strongest medicine for an animal. He would be fine, but because he has a type of aids, it prevents medicine from working... so medicine barely works for him. God, I need him to get better. Is there a chance he can survive?

EMERGENCY - My Iguana is choking?

My iguana ate a stem from his collard greens and now I believe it is lodged in his throat. He is breathing but I can see it when he opens his mouth. I've called the emergency vet and they said we can either monitor him at home or bring him in but the vet is 45 min. away. I don't know what to do. Could I have ovarian cancer and not know?

I am almost 19 years old and I have had bad bladder infections and pain in my pelvis for about 4 months now and I kept telling to doctor and they didn't see anything abnormal in my urine so they kept telling me that it was just a bladder infection and "rib cage pain". So, about a month and a half ago I had pain so immensely bad in my right side of my pelvis and when I would have a bowel movement it was ten times worse. I went to the Emergency Room and they did a vaginal ultrasound and found "multiple ovarian cysts" on my right ovary and they were hemorragic cysts. So, I've just been dealing with the pain. But, recently I've been having pain on my right leg from my pelvis down to my knee and I'm feeling full quickly after a snack along with bloating all throughout my days. Could I have symptoms of ovarian cancer and not know it? Would the doctors be able to tell?

I been friends with these two girls for a while. The first one lets call her sandra, had been my best friend since we were in middle school. Yea they are Capable of love. My mom was a hoarder. There was always at least a foot of stuff piled throughout the house all over the floor. I kept my room clean. She just couldn't stop shopping. And never cleaned. I think it is something that can be helped it just takes time. Sometimes years. So be prepared to deal with the mess or leave. That's really all you can do after all it is his house. Hope this helped.

You need to find a lot of patience and stamina. I honestly know that these past two months have been very long and hard. But, you have to understand that it's going to take a lot longer than two months. With both of your children, you and your husband need to be the ONLY ones doing the caretaking. With your daughter, especially, she needs to learn how a family functions. She has lived in an orphanage for two years, has had multiple caretakers and has learned to be charming to get what she wants from whatever adult is in front of her. It's how she's survived. She now needs to learn that you and your husband are the special people called Mom and Dad dedicated to taking care of her. It will take awhile. Don't let other people feed, comfort, bathe, or provide for any of her other major needs except for you and your husband. Your son may actually be having more difficult behavior right now, but I'm actually betting he comes around before your daughter. He's showing preference for a single caretaker, and that actually IS a good sign. He needs that right now, and when he starts to become more secure that his needs are being taken care of, he'll start to slowly but surely let you in. My daughter did not behave this severely for this long, but she preferred Daddy at first. It is hard. When he goes to Daddy to have a need met, Daddy needs to VERBALLY say, while handing him to you, "Mommy is good at feeding you. She will take care of you." Daddy should certainly also keep meeting his needs a lot of the time now, too, but it will help your son to see that his trusted Daddy trusts you and help your son to gain trust in you. With both kids, be affectionate, never raise your voice, show them that you will be there whatever they throw at you. Hang in there. Take care of yourself emotionally and physically. If these problems persist, or at least don't start improving with what you're doing on your own, within a few months, seek professional help.

Simply put, my brother's threatened violence against me multiple times, and his mentality seems unstable enough to me that he would do it. My children went to their dads for two weeks. We have joint custody and there is no primary. He kept them for two weeks because Father's Day came on the week I was supposed to have them and my sons birthday was that week as well. The CPT concluded that with what my son was telling them while I was out of the room, that they see it posing a problem for them to go back to their dads. If I go to the courthouse and file a restraining order against him on the kids behalf will they give it to me. My son is scared and he doesn't act the same anymore. He won't sleep without a light on, if I go somewhere in the next room he screams don't leave me... I am so unbelievable stressed and scared for my childrens lives. I think that such a huge change in your life is very difficult and you're getting rid of the stress in a healthy way (crying). It's hard to leave everything behind and it's hard to cope with a new town that's a dump. Quite obviously, your parents don't understand or they're trying the wrong ways to get your spirits up. Your mother is lonely and bored. Try to find a daycare for the elderly, where she can go every day if she wants to. She will have company, and there will be activities for her to occupy her time. Tell her that you realise she is lonely and bored but you have lots to do as well and see what she thinks about this idea. You could choose a recreation center together. Put aside a time for you and your mom to get together for a cup of coffee or something, where you can catch up on each other's lives, maybe once or twice a week. Call her every day. Meanwhile rinse your mouth out with salt water as this will help with healing process.I don't understand why you are still getting pain,the gums soon start to shrink which may cause only minor discomfort.I would urge you to see your dentist sooner rather than later.

Okay, before you freak out on me. My mom likes to have these temper tantrums to get her point across. She's done it ever since I can remember. I'm 16, now..anyway she called me early this morning about 5 minutes before I had to get to work. She told me that she needed certain clothes washed, and I told her that I couldn't wash them because I was running late. So she said snaps at me and says "Wash those clothes or your grounded." which is ridiculous. Whatever. So I get home from work later and as soon as I walk in the door she freaks out on me. Screaming at me about how I didn't do what she asked. So I told her again, that I was running late for work and I can go wash the clothes now if she still needs them. She just kept screaming, so I start to tune her out.. Suddenly I hear my puppy yelping. She was kicking and beating my puppy! I freaked out pushed her away from my dog and took him upstairs with me. He's limping and shaking. I don't know what to do. She ended up spraining her ankle and won't even talk to me. I don't know whats wrong with her. She has never freaked out that bad. What should I do? Like i said, she has never freaked out this bad before, usually its just yelling.

2yr old Tantrums. Does your child slap themselves in the face?

My daughter is almost 2 and she doesnt slap herself in the face but she throws herself back on the floor like yours and she bangs her head against the wall sometimes. Its REALLY annoying! Also sometimes when we say NO! she covers her eyes like her boyfriend broke up with her or something. I dont get why is so dramatic, other peoples kids are sooo good at that age!! I personally think its normal. Every child is different and so they all have their own ways to deal with anger and other feelings. My friend has a 2 year old too, and he used to scratch his face when he was mad or upset. He actually stopped, but its just to show you that its only a phase so it should go away.

Does the pain of losing a "fetus" ever ease?

On April 10th I went to the emergency room with severe bleeding. I was 9 weeks pregnant. After two sonograms I was told by the doctor that my baby was ectopic and they believed that it was in my falopian tube. I woke up 4 hours later from surgery (which was only supposed to take 45 minutes) and the back of my right hand where the needle was, was covered in blood. It turned out that the baby wasn't in my tubes after all, it was actually on one of my ovaries. When they lifted my ovary I began to bleed heavily and they had to give me a blood transfusion. Since the baby was on my ovary they had to do a bikini cut to remove it. Everyday I either unintentionally look at or feel that scar and it is like a knife to the heart. Every Saturday (when the week I was pregnant would change), I always think, I would be 17 weeks along now, or I would be 19 weeks now. And it kills me to see babies. It doesn't matter if I see them in real life, or even on TV, it hurts so bad. What makes it worse is that I have a 3 year old who has a genetic disease, he is now a normal little boy, but he had to go through chemotherapy and a blood transplant at Duke University in NC (I live in MI) and for a week we almost lost him. What they did wasn't a cure, but a treatment, so the damage that has been done to his bones and his hearing loss will never go away. Don't get me wrong, I love my son, and I am so greatful that I didn't lose him, but I think that one of my children God gave a horrible disease to, and the other one he took away from me. It hurts so bad, I know that it has only been less than three months, but will the pain of the loss ever ease? I want to get pregnant again, but I'm scared. I don't want to go through that again, and the doctor said that since I have had one ectopic pregnancy I am more likely to have another one. I just don't want it to feel like a knife in the heart every time i think about it.

At what point should I make my toddler come inside?

It is about 95 degrees outside. I came inside because I was roasting. He has sun block on, and he was mostly staying on the porch where it is in the shade, but still he's getting awfully flushed from the heat. He usually eats his afternoon snack at the table out there, but it was hot so I brought it inside hoping he would follow it in, but it didn't seem to help. I usually just let him play outside all afternoon because he is far happier out there and I don't have to deal with the dozens of tantrums there always are when he's playing inside. Should I bring him in to protect him from the heat, or just let him play and be happy?

Do I interview gym daycare?

I want to start going to the gym and the one I plan to go to has a daycare center. Is there some sort of protocol when taking your child as far as interviewing them or providing them with certain important information? I'm not sure if I should just go and leave her with emergency information or stay with her for the first few times? What did you do with your little one? Also my daughter is 16 months if she cries is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? I can't work out at home with her around and I'm really bad about going early morning or late at night plus I'd like for her to get out for a bit too. Advice needed!

I don't see how it can be illegal for you to be in your own home. You might want to see if you can spend a couple nights with a friend to pacify her so she doesn't stir things up. You're older now and should be able to stay alone.

I think you should get a dog thats an adult, or even like a year old. Most the time older dogs don't like little puppies. If the puppy is for your other dog, why not just get an older one that she'd get along with better. Other then that it sounds fine.

I think I just got PTSD from work emergencies?

My client had 3 life threatening emergencies within 2 hours last night. After that, whenever she made a noise, I thought she would have another seizure and tried to rush over there, but she just coughed. Then I was outside w/her family and thought I heard her screaming for help and panicked, but she was fine. I had 2 startle reponses driving home. My roommate is home, and somehow made a noise that my client would made, and my heart started racing until I realized everything was fine. I keep thinking I'm hearing my phone ring, my computer do things, and for some reason, I think about her seizures. They were all really bad and the confusion and seizures lasted over 15 min each. I'm afraid I'll be there and she'll die and that I could have prevented it. Is this PTSD? It happened on the job, but I was told what i was getting into. What do I do?

Violent temper..Bi Polar?

I have always had a short fused temper even as a teen. Since I hit my early twenties though and met my husband it got worse. I have overreacted and distrusted, thrown temper tantrums and yelled,hit. I have had anxiety/ocd for years but this anger problem makes me worry about conditions like "Bi Polar or Borderline". I don't have any symptoms of bi polar (manias, depression, etc.) I have no history of bi polar in my family, I have never taken many drugs, I drink next to nothing, NO history of self harm (such as those with borderline exhibit), no severe emptiness. I don't go off on anyone else really at all. I'm actually mild mannered around friends, others, etc. But my temper has been volatile and out of control at times towards the spouse. And he didn't deserve it. My mom is tempered also but by no means a "bipolar". Of course my temper has decreased by a landslide now after fearing this for the last couple months.

I'm 19 and 33 weeks into my pregnancy currently. About 3 days ago I started experiencing a spinning sensation followed by severe nausea and vomiting. I am unable to walk correctly and have major balance problems. The effects of the constant spinning have not subsided for 2 days straight. I went to UMC and Southern hills emergency rooms to no avail. Visited my obgyn today to find out I had vertigo. I'm scared and confused, never had any health issues in my life besides maybe a stomach flu or two. I can't leave bed without tumbling and becoming very puky. Any advice would help.

Well my kitten is now 2 years old and i have a older cat who's 16 years old and she didn't grow up around the younger cat and that's just how cats are, Your older cat probably needs to get used to your younger cat, Just let them Adapt on their own. Need help with 5 year old tantrums and attitude, any suggestions?

My grandson and his parents-should I just butt out?

My grandson will be 2 in mid-July. My son and daughter-in-law do not live close to us so we see them 3-4 times a year. This past week they came home for an important family gathering and I am disturbed at my grandsons progress or lack of as far as communication. My son and his wife are WONDERFUL parents, but I am wondering if they are too doting. My grandson points and they jump-- he throws temper tantrums when he doesn't get his own way and they do nothing about it. He speaks very little although I know he can as when it is just him and I-he will talk up a storm. My husband and I babysat one night while they went out with some friends and it took me a while, but we finally had him running around-playing and rolling around outside. He was having a ball. He got dirty like I have never seen him (which is really not allowed by my DIL at all) and went to bed without issue and slept all night long. They picked him up in the morning and he was winey and moody all over again. They live in a very warm area, where it gets pretty miserable outside--so they stay in the house alot. They watch tv quite a bit and since they work alot (she a restaurant manager and he owns his own consturction company), he is at the sitters alot of the time. He is as smart as a whip--I do not believe for one minute he isn't able to do all the things a 2 year old should do, he just doesnt' when his parents are around and they don't make him. They have just entered him into a new daycare/nursery school that I think will benefit him greatly--playing with other kids and having to speak etc. I wish he lived closer so he could spend more time with us (we live on a farm and he LOVES the animals) but that is not possible. The stories I hear from my DIL about her upbringing, her parents were very, very strict, bordering on cruel (opne side of the story I know) my son was disciplined and to be honest once he got past about 7-8 years, I hardly ever had to discipline him, he had a good solid basis of right and wrong. They are both loving parents and I know they believe they are doing the right thing and only want whats best but sometimes I think they are too laid back with him. So do I keep my mouth shut or do I say something to my son/DIL? The not discipling is the part that really concerns me. They have to have a good solid base or they get out of hand as they get older.

because, many times..... not always, women are looking for a good man who can lessen their insecurities.... those men you described are often the "icons" for women. Being a young women who meets one of these said "icons" can sometimes prove to be overwhelming ("like, he really likes me", when often its just him thinking "yea, I'd do her")... after many of these mistakes and some years of education on men... the good men will shine through. I have ... ahem, a few, but mostly from when I was under 18, so technically I was promiscuous then.... but really I was just trying to figure it out. Look more at when a girl had her numbers at the highest (I look at the same for men).... because if they have been with a LOT of men/women in the past 6 months..... chances are they are still on that mindset. They will be looking for a aesthetic equal, or what they believe to be one, and/or one really awesome in bed. Some people don't grow out of that, but if it is in her past, then that has NOTHING to do with you, thats why they are looking at different males, they have figured some of it out, and might want to settle down. But that is just my personal opinion. Some women enjoy the conquests, others are looking for mates who will always love them.

I dont have an answer for the first bit of your post but i have an answer for the sencond bit. When my sister was a child I remember that my mum had to explain to her that her father had died. They had been very close and they were just like best friends. My sister found it very hard to deal with and admittitly she was very upset. It is never easy to deal with any sort of loss, espicially when your a child. Ugh why did she make you out to be the bad person, silly woman isn't she!! If I were in this situation I would do it for the little girl because she's probably at the age where she would assume she did something wrong and therefore is not allowed have her hair done or something. Like maybe she wouldn't understand. Basically though, be very weary of these women the next time and don't offer something, wait for them to ask you. Explain to your husband that if it were your own child you would want someone to help out and forget any differences between adults. Hope it works out ok!

DOES MY 2 YEAR OLD HAVE AN ANXIETY DISORDER?

I have a 2 year and 9 month old little girl. She is the 3rd child of our 4 children my husband and I have together. Since she was around 1.5 everyone viewed her as increadibly intelligent, maybe even gifted as she talked in complete sentences, was very intelligent, and excelled in every area over other children her age. About 1 month before she turned to until now, she has begun being what my husband and I would call terrible 2's from hell. We attributed a lot of it to us having our 4th child at this time. However, as time has progressed, her behavior has gotten so bad, it literally dictates a lot of how the family acts and what we do. The normal temper tantrums have now appeared to become laced with anxiety, and they all depend on the mood she is in. Some days are great, others, are hell. Sometimes there are triggers, sometimes nothing appearently sets her off but she goes into hysterics over something yesterday would not have bothered her. The main things that seem to be the problem are when she can't get something exactly right it seems to upset her so much she appears to be physically in pain. For example, if she can not lay a baby doll the exact way she sees in her head to lay it, she is inconsoloble until we are able to figure out how to get it in that position. Also, sometimes noises bother her, or "shapes" she says things aren't the right shape, or she can't hear something when it's very loud, or says something is too loud when there is no noise (she does know the difference). When playing with other children for the most part she does well, however, when it comes to someone playing at our house, the child has to ask permission to come into our home and play. If they don't she gets very upset, and each toy, whether its hers or not, has to be given permission to play with. Please do not say it's a discipline problem, trust me it isn't the issue. We have tried everything and it doesn't work. When she gets upset, there is no consoling her until we can "fix" whatever is bothering her. I thought maybe she had a sensory disorder, but maybe it's anxiety. I don't know. My doctor told me it was normal, but it isn't. Trust me. I am a social worker for the state, I see kids her age every day, in good, bad, and worse situations and she is not normal. So any help would be great. Thanks.

It sounds like you have some kind of depressive disorder, although I'm not exactly sure what. There would have to be a much more thorough analysis to effectively provide an answer, which I doubt could be done on yahoo answers. If you are seriously concerned, I would highly recommend that you see your GP, who in turn can refer you to a psychologist. This psychologist can then either give you online tests or ask you some questions to try to determine what the case is. Make sure you feel comfortable with the psychologist; there is nothing wrong with telling them that you don't feel comfortable talking to them and that you would prefer to see someone else.

My daughters won't talk to me and they're very mad?

I know exactly why they are is acting this way, it's because I am giving away our dog Millie. My daughter Sarah is 10 years old and my daughter Tatum is 10 year old too ( they are twins ). Well we got this Dalmatian puppy for their birthday last month, my husband insisted we get them a puppy so we did and we payed 600 dollars for the dog. Ever since then this house has been turned upside down and I can't take it anymore the dog pees and poops everywhere inside. Millie chews the furniture and my clothes and shoes and everything! The girls take care of her very well but this dog is just out of control. She jumps every, she run around on the furniture, she digs up the flower beds, she always so excited and jumps on me and the girls. Millie also will nip at you and sometimes she gets so excited she pees and scratches us on the legs.She howls all night and when we take her out for a walk she pulls hard and her tail wags so fast it hurts! She also get bored all the time, we buy her tons of toys she plays with them for awhile then never play with them again. I myself feed he properly, walk her three times a day,I let her run free in the yard twice, the girls play with her, we potty trained her when she was a little puppy. She completely insane and goes crazy she bark so loud too. I told the girls I am giving her away because I am and they both cried and threw a tantrum. They screamed at me and yelled " I HATE YOU!" my husband didn't do anything they refuse to talk to me and locked Millie in their room. I explained to them why we have to give Millie away and they still refuse to talk to me. What I am doing is right and there is no doubt about it, this dog idea was stupid and it will never work Millie is to crazy and she can't learn anything she a stupid dog and I am giving her away and maybe putting her down asleep. I haven't told the girls that I might put the dog down. I tried punsihments for the girls but they don't care. Any advice on how I can make them cool down and talk to me again? How many weeks of unemployment do Florida residents get?

Well, it is finally official and I am getting unemployment, but trying to find out how many WEEKS I will get (if needs be) has been a challenge. I have read 26 weeks, 52 weeks, and heard that the Obama emergency unemployment... thing can give up to 104 weeks if needs be (which I REALLY hope I don't need). I live in an area that is kind of dead at the moment, and I have been looking for work believe you me, but I am trying to plan in case of the worst case scenario. The information I have recieved from the unemployment center has not mention how many weeks I have. HELP! I miss sleeping at night.

Did I overreact when my daughter posted she didn't want to live anymore?

My daughter posted this on Facebook: " What happens when you don't want to live anymore? I'm about there and Its scary." I live 5 states away, and I tried to call and she wouldn't answer. She had came out here on vacation with her family, and left her two girls with us, and I hadn't heard from her since she got home on Sunday. I got her husband and told him what she had posted, and he said he had talked to her and she was upset, and wasn't picking him up from work, he had to find a way home. I told him I thought she needed to go to the emergency room, she's on depression meds. She then called me crying so loudly I couldn't understand what she was saying, but finally got that she thought he was lying and cheating on her. Then she said the police were at the door. They ended up having her call me back so they could talk to me about what was going on, and I told them about her threat. Worst part is my son-in-law is in the Navy, and his Captain brought him home. He had called 911 because of my concern. She had also called my sister, who heard her crying uncontrollably, and his mother. I got a text from him 4 hours later telling me I had overreacted and that I had put his career in jeopardy. She was just having a "cry" day. She called my sister back, but not me. I am not an idiot or an interfering mother. Because of another sister, I've dealt with mental health issues 35 years, but realize I can make a mistake. I need an objective opinion. What should I have done?

I think the most telling thing that you may have been abused is the acting out with your dolls. Many times children will act out with dolls things that bother them they can't talk about. It seems since you liked being babied by your mom, the bed wetting could have been a symptom of that. You need to figure out why you liked your mom to baby you. Was it because your parents had another child that threatened to take their attention from you, did you feel some of your childhood innocence was lost or did your mom just have you spoiled & acting like a baby was the best way to ensure she continued? It's normal to feel more comfortable with a parent of the same sex bathing you, especially since your mom was probably always the one who did it anyway. Not remembering long stretches of childhood is also a sign abuse may have occurred. The eating disorder could have happened because of anything that made you feel out-of-control (like the divorce) & it's your way of gaining some control over yourself. Not everything you described points to abuse but some may.

Puppy had a oatmeal raisin cookie.??! *Help!*?

This morning I noticed my 16 week Yorkie was nibbling a bunch of my moms homemade oatmeal raisin cookies, and their HAS to be ad-least 11 raisins in one cookie. He ate approximately 2 cookies. I quickly took away all of the cookies, and threw them away. Then, I asked my sister if she had been eating the cookies, and she admit some fell on the floor and she didn't bother to pick them up. Then, I went to my mom and told her the situation; she said dogs are extremely toxic to raisins. I researched that on my own, and it says dogs can DIE by a few raisins.??!! I was extremely worried, and called our local vet. They are packed, and the next possible time they have is 10 pm. *It's almost 11:30 am*. I tried talking to the lady, I even told her it is an emergency, but she said she couldn't make any possible exceptions. What should I do? I gave my dog lots of water, and he is not drinking alot. I put him to bed, and I noticed he didn't sleep, but got all sleepy-ish, and tried to hide from me. What should I do? I got him not too long ago, and I love him deeply :( PLEASE HELP :'(

My 21 mo old grandson doesn't like adults or children, and cries when they get near?

He is affectionate and engaging with his mother, father, me and grandfather. That's it. He will not warm up to anyone else and cries if anyone even looks at him. He will not participate in playgroups and doesn't like being around other children. He also has bad moods alot, wakes up grouchy and stays that way and has tantrums. Okay, so make a long backstory short, my dad is in a detention center for 30 days. I am staying strong (i'm 16), but my mom sometimes is like a 3 year old. I get I don't do much during the day (I babysit and petsit 2-3 out of 5 days), and she is running my dad's business without him and stuff Sometimes she is like "Ashley, I am strong, its only 30 days, and we get to visit him, I'm a-okay (:" and other times she throws LEGIT hissy fits. It has been about 7 years since my daughter's father and I have separated. I have had boyfriend's in the past but not as serious as my boyfriend now. Things were great in the beginning and it wasn't until we made plans to move in with each other that my daughter began to dislike my boyfriend. He has done nothing but try to be nice to her. She has started to throw temper tantrum saying that I love him more than her and that she hates me and wants to live with her father. I don't know what to do anymore because I love both of them. Does your local shelter also have a low cost clinic? Ours does spay/neuters but also offers shots, and if you get them all there is normally a discount. It can get pretty expensive since they will need multiples of most of the shots as they grow up. We went to PetSmart and got on their Wellness plan (cost about $150 upfront) and we pay about $21 a month. It covers all their pup shots, rabies, wellness exams, free office visits unlimited, and the spay/neuter as well. It was way cheaper then the vets in our area and our dog LOVES this vet! They've healed him past a broken leg and dem. mange.

How to introduce my 16 month old to newborn?

I have a 15 month old, and I am due next Thursday with my second. I have been pretty worried about the same thing! Advice I have gotten is to expect temper tantrums. At their age, attention is attention. What is good attention to them is anything that puts your focus on them and gets you to stop paying attention to the baby. Don't scold her if she misbehaves, completely ignore it. On the flip side, when she is playing nicely and behaving, pay attention to her and tell her what a good girl she is. Tell her how much she loves the baby and how much the baby loves her. Babies are suggestible and when you tell her that, they accept it as truth. Buy her a doll, so she can take care of her baby while you take care of yours. Try to involve her in the care of the baby, like throwing away diapers. Also, mine has recently gotten the concept of giving kisses, we say give mommy kisses or give daddy kisses, so we plan to add the baby into that. I also talk to her a lot about the baby in my belly. She likes to touch and pat my belly and I will tell her "mommy has baby Riley in her belly" and she will say "a baby" over and over. Hopefully things go smoothly! If they are a little rocky, don't stress. It will get better. She will barely remember it!

My parents repeatedly scream at me and make me feel worthless.I'm a 16 year old girl by the way My mother has temper tantrums and acts like a 5 year old when she gets mad stomping her feet, yelling, and screMing almost to the point where she is in tears. 5 year old pees on himself on purpose and throws tantrums. I'm so frustrated?

My son is 5 years old. He has been potty trained for almost 2 years. About 3 months ago he wet the bed. I felt horrible for him, told him it would be okay, changed him and sent him back to bed. Well, he has wet the bed about 90% of the time since then but, only at bedtime. Plus he never wets the bed at the sitters, my brothers, his mothers... anywhere but at home. He goes to the restroom before bed. Most times he only urinates a tiny bit in his pants but, it's enough for him to tell me "daddy, I peed my pants". The first month or so I was very compassionate and understanding. The next month I didn't say a word to him when it happened, just changed him and sent him back to bed. Recently I have started making him stand in the corner for a few minutes and then change him. I make him help me clean the mess almost every time. I've tried positive reinforcement, encouragement, silence, punishment... everything I can think of but, he continues to wet the bed. Everything I'm reading online says that very rarely will a child wet himself on purpose but, I'm 99% confident that this is the case. I don't know if he's trying to get attention, if he's trying to test me, if he sees it as an excuse to not go to sleep... I just don't know. Most times it seems like a game to him... he'll have a smile on his face when he tells me he wet himself. I've even went to the extent of threatening to put him back in a diaper at bedtime. He laughs at me Usually, when I threaten something I intend on backing it up but, I just couldn't bring myself to put him back in a diaper. I cannot get my toddler to bed anymore, does anyone else have problems with this around 2 years old?

My daughter is approaching two years old and for the last month, she does not want to go to bed at night. Sometimes I even have the same issues with nap time. I know she is tired because she yawns, rubs her eyes, throws temper tantrums, etc. I have tried everything. From baths, rocking her in the glider, dim lights, reading bed time stories, rubbing her back, humming, pacing her bed room. I don't try these all in the same nights but I have tried each one a few nights in a row to see if something would help. I block out the outside lights, run a fan on low, and she has a night light. I have to run the fan because we live in a very small house and the walls are like paper so you can hear everything. My husband and I stay quiet. I am just at loss. She fights sleep every night and even gets up at 3 am to play. It takes me over an hour to get her sleep every night and most nights I leave her in her crib to fall asleep after a half hour of trying to get her to calm down.. She talks, bounces, kicks the sides, and plays in her crib all the time. I have even tried early bedtime around 8:00 and later up until 10:15. I just don't know what will make this kid sleep without a show down every night. She doesn't cry or carry on hardly, she just will not go to sleep. I have tried changing her naps and even tried days without a nap but to no avail my child will not cooperate. I really hope this just a phase. She was a great sleeper until a month or two ago. This wouldn't be such a problem but I am in school and take online classes, night time is my school time. I cannot do my work when she is up during the day for obvious reasons with a toddler running around. Any advice experienced mamas?

My sister is Anorexic but my parents won't believe me?! HELP?!?

OK, this is going to be long... So my sister was acting really odd for the past few months right after our trip to Disney World. She reduced her food amount drastically and even cut out the food she can't live without: Potato Chips. She started going to her room as early as six o' clock and go to sleep as early as seven. So, that means she hasn't been eating dinner. Before, she would look in the mirror every morning and suck her belly in. She did have sort of a belly before, but she wasn't overweight. Now, she has lost a lot of weight. She skips breakfast (nothing new), but then she will remove stuff from her lunch kit which my mum packed, even when my mum put less so my sister would finish it. She didn't. Then she would come home from school and say she's not hungry and go upstairs to read or, until recently, play on her NEW iPod Touch. She started drinking lots of water (she never did before) and diet fizzy drinks. She complains of being cold at warm days. She once took a potato chip and put it in tissue paper and said "Eww! Look how GREASY it is!!". Whenever we make things at our cooking classes, she'll tell the kids she can't wait to eat them, then she'll not touch them at home. I am writing this right after one of her tantrums. She went to her room right after coming from her friends house. I went upstairs and asked if she was going to eat dinner with us. She said she already ate at her friends house. I asked what. She said two slices of pizza. So I said I would ask my brother who was also there, then she admitted she didn't eat anything. She promised she would eat when my mum came home. She didn't eat. I made her some lasagna (she used to LOVE it) and she promised she would go to her room and eat it when it was finished cooking. She went to sleep. My mum made her come downstairs (she didn't want to waste the food) and my sister was screaming and crying and ended up not eating. IPhone Problems With Restoring.?

okay i accidently restored my iPhone 2G. i just thought okay ill start over from scratch but it went to the emergency call lock screen. ive tried restarting it, restarting my computer, even un-installing itunes nd re-installing it but still nothing. i went to the at&t store and they told me to hold the circle button while i plug in the usb to put the phone into recovery mode and it says it restores it but once it finishes loading everything it immediately goes back to the emergency call lock screen, the one with the globe. Just wondering if you guys would know what to do because im really frustrated with this problem.

How do we get him to stop crying?

Our 5 Yr old crys about everything!!!!! If I ask him to come to dinner he crys cause he wants to play with something. He crys because I did not use the bread he has in his hand after I've already made his sandwich. He crys when I ask him to share. He crys when we ask him not to cry! We don't know what to do! He just gets sad alot!!!! All the time! He is only really happy when he is playing on the computer, on his ds or outside playing. And we have 3 kids so I can't take away the computer and ds cause our other two wil play and he will just cry. It's like he does not understand why... Like you actually feel bad for him because it's not like a temper tantrum; he just gets really sad, confused and crys! Anyway I want to stop this behavior. Right now we just put him in timeout wich makes him stop crying almost immediately but he then has to sit it out (5min/ age) he does Not like time out so everytime he is about to cry we say you will go to timeout and usually he will stop, but I don't want him to even start to cry!! Any advice??

I don't think I would just come out and say I don't "want", I think I would just say something like, "it may be beneficial if I not adopt him because" and then explain why. If he is 12, he may want to keep his last name, and he may very well not like you in a year or 2. In case you haven't had teenagers yet, they hate parents. They think parents is the dumbest thing since "Dumbo". So you have reasons not to adopt him, very legitimate reasons at that. I totally understand since I have 3 step kids of my own.

Will a prepaid phone be able to call 911 even if it has no remaining balance and the service has expired?

I'm sending my grandma a Verizon prepaid cellphone for emergency use. It has $10 airtime included and I'm also sending $15 refill card. These amounts will expire if not used, and I'm not sure she would buy more refill cards or keep it active. I've heard that any cellphone will still call 911 even if it has no balance and is not active. Is this true? Could my grandma call 911 in an emergency even if she does not keep up with the service?

9 year olds still throwing tantrums--how do you deal with it?

when you said she has tantrums about 3 times a day I say she is spoiled and being popular at school makes her even worse. When she try's to beat you and your sister you must take control by gabbing her and forcing her down on something soft like a bed and say as calm as you can that you will not tolerate this and be as sweet as possible to her. If she try's kicking you and all after you do this then just walk away with your other sister and stay away from the one with the tantrum. This way she will calm down eventually. And if she gets mad about the food taking to long then finish that up and give it to her polity after she calms down. Eventually she will learn so don't be to worried.

Lil siblings trouble..?

I cant take it any more. My 6yr old twin lil bros r driving me nuts! One kept me up all night the other is a MEGA brat. First she's a toddler, it's normal. Second, you must discipline her, you are her mother, it is your job. Put her in time out for 2 mins. Yes they run, they have just learned how to do it. If she throws a fit then it's time out, if you do not start disciplining her it will only get worse. And she throws those fits becuase it gets her what she wants, be strong and do not give in to it.

ok so I have parents who make at least $1,300 a week working hard so I really don't get much or try to get much for it but lately I've been wanting to learn about how to manage money on my own. My boyfriend/baby's father walked out on me about a month ago. My lease runs out at my apartment June 30th, begged to renew it but I got no sympathy from my landlord. I am now 8 months pregnant, and completely homeless. Thank God I still have my job but its not paying enough to pull me out of poverty. I asked my obgyn for help & they attempted to involuntarily hospitalize me.My obgyn is making me take fmla leave july 30th due to a very serious case of anemia, and stressful pregnancy. So I will have no income at all come aug. I have gotten everything available to me from social services: medicaid, stamps, waiting on wic which I probably wont recieve b/c the come to your home in order to see if your fit. There is no emergency housing in my area, and People Helping People has closed. There is no section 8 for 2 years. The housing authority is also unable to help at the moment. I have tried the Mercy House, who says they can only house me when my baby comes, and there is no more money to help until mid August. The salvation army has all rooms filled, and First Step a womens shelter says I need to be a victim of domestic abuse. Im sleeping in my car, and living off of food not good for an already sick baby. I only have my mother as family & she lives about an hour away, and is struggling to get by on her own due to helping me as best she can. I am so tired, very sick, at my wits end and am very scared. I am 25 & have never been homeless before. I have always been responsible & financially independant & capable until now. I have already lost my home, and soon my job and my car. I fear losing my child too. What else can I do for myself? Any help what so ever will be considered a blessing.

I am personally, against using physical discipline, but that is each parents choice. I think you are on the right track. I found a baby pigeon, it flaps its wings and tries to fly so it must be around 20 days old. But it wont eat anything! Its scared of me and tries to run. Whooo one prob at a time, lights don't mater if it dont'run. It "cranks"but will not start..You are looking at a fuel or spark issue. It has enough fuel^, was it raining or wet, (water intrusion in ignition-spark- system). ok, fuel pump or distributor prob. Put your ear to the back of car at the fuel filler cap, have some one turn the key on (all the way to start, but don't start) you should hear the fuel pump Humm, Whine for 2 seconds, if not pump or relay.Under the hood is a single wire, all by itself, just there hanging out it has a lill connector on it - like it's supposed to be plugged in to something. Well, with key on take a piece of wire and stick it from battery poss to the end of wire, if pump runs, replace fuel pump relay, if not running, Have fuel pump replaced. Ok, spark- pull one (don't matter) plug wire from the spark plug, have some one crank car, if you can't hear and or see the spark / ticking Have the ignition system checked out. NOW you can do these checks.. you need a piece of wire (=12in long), someone to crank the car(even this can be done by one person, just LISTEN close as you turn key on or try to crank). A bit long but very easy to figure out WHAT. Now repairing (other than relay) needs a 'shop'. Good Luck,

1.5 year old daughter... should i be concerned?

My almost 18 month old is definitely showing signs of terrible twos. The only thing that worries me is she is hitting herself and me when throwing tantrums. She also throws her head forward and back to hit things such as the couch or her crib railing... is this normal? She seems to take her anger out on herself?! Can a company fire you with no written/verbal warning?

I was fired today from Wild Waves Theme park. They say in the handbook that they have to give you warnings at certain points but they did not give me any work. Then I went today and I went to clock in and they told me to sit down and they fired me. Also one of those days my best friend/cousins ex gf miscarried so I went down to see her. So that should of not been counted as points because its a family emergency.
